Cycling near Adyar

Cycling to Marina Beach

Start your bicycle machine at around 5.30 in the early morning. It's been a replenishing journey to ride towards Marina Beach in the early morning.  You can watch the sunrise and enjoy the serene beauty of the beach.  You will feel a little achievement when you found the beach road after a long ride from any part of the city.  Relaxing on the beach shore and admiring the waves along with the horizon would be best feeling to begin the day with loads of positive energy and crystal clear mind.

Beasant Nagar

Cycling to Besant nagar beach

When you ride along with the Beasant Nagar, you can feel the cycle-friendly atmosphere on the road. Over there, you will spot a separate lane for the cyclist to enjoy their safe ride.  I started my ride from Anna Nagar, then took a Mogappair road to touch Trichy Highway where we will get a different feel while riding on the highway.  The road is smooth with less traffic and noise compared to street roads.  Initially, beginners get panic on riding the cycle on the highway.  Wear a helmet and take the last lane for better safety and smooth ride.  Focus on the ride and start moving with a clear understanding of other vehicles passing on. Then I took a left turn on reaching Porur toll plaza, then took a ride on Mount Poonamalle High Road and continue straight onto State highway 55. Then I passed through Guindy,  Anna University, IIT Madras, and finally reached the  Beasant Ave Road.  There you can spend good quality time in Besant Nagar Beach and Broken bridge. The total ride covered around 60kms for around 4 hours.

Pallikaranai Marshland

The ride starts from Anna Nagar to Tambaram through NH, Tambaram to Pallikaranai Marshland.  Pallikaranai marshland is located between OMR road and Tambaram - Velacherry road.  You can spot Flamingo and Pelican birds in Pallikaranai marshland.   This wetland helps to rejuvenate water and prevent floods in the city of chennai.  It is an added advantage for a cyclist to visit Palikaranai marshland if you are a bird watcher.  Because over 10000 birds coming here from various parts of the country. But the sad part is the encroachment of lands for construction, dumping of solid waste which exploited the marshland.  The entire ride covered around 77kms.

JUHU beach

Cycling along ECR road

It is like a private beach on East Coast Road.  The beach is relatively calm and solitary.  You can spot very few people on the beach and the best way to start your day by spending time here by watching the sunrise, listen to the sound of waves in the early morning.  While I returned back rom the beach, I visited ISKON temple which is 5kms from the Juhu beach.  The ride covered around 90kms and the ride along the East Coast Road is exciting.
